After reading these chapters I was left with a couple of questions. One of the questions I was left with was how doesn't the family no that they have Huck and Tom mixed up? Is it because Tom has been gone so long and they expected him to come home soon? I think that they expected him to come home soon and just thought that he had changed so much. It seems as if though, they would have realized when Tom got there later on that they had it all wrong. Another question I have is why is it so hard for Huck to pray? Is it because he hasn't done it in so long that he forgot? Or is it because he just wasn't sure if he wanted to or not? I feel that Huck just wasn't sure if he wanted to or not and he never caught on to what praying was when he was back home.
A major take away I got from these chapters is that a true friend will do anything for someone that is very close to them and that they care about most. Huck cares a lot about Jim! When Huck found out he was missing the first thing he thought of was going through everything to find him and get him back. People in the story say that slaves are bad people and do not deserve to be treated like others. Huck has other views. He thinks that they are no different from others and are people that should be treated the same. Jim is the only person he really has in his life and they are too great of friends for him to lose Jim. Huck is a true friend of Jim's and will do anything he has to, to get him back into his life.
One thing that I really liked in these chapters was how Tom reacted to what Huck told him about Jim. As soon as Huck told him that he said right away that he would help him get Jim back. This is another one of those true friend moments where they will do anything for you and always have your back. I really like Tom as a character because he is such a great helping hand. He is doing something very wrong by helping Huck get Jim back but he is doing it because of how great him and Huck are as friends. What Tom is doing for Huck makes him very thankful that he has a true friend to help him on the way of getting Jim back.
