After reading these chapters I was left with a question that didnt make a whole lot of sense to me. Why didn't Huck and Tom leave the rats and snakes in a safe place outside until it was time to take them to Jim's cabin? Did they do it because they knew it would make Aunt Sally mad? In my opinion, I think they did it because they knew that if the animals got out in the house that Aunt Sally would flip out and they could get some humor out of it. When reading this part I found some humor in it and started laughing myself. While laughing I also thought it was kind of rude and disgusting that they did this because of all the things that Aunt Sally does for them.
A major take away I had from these chapters is to fight for the people you love. Huck and Tom went through so much to get Jim free again because they care so much about him. They are fighting for him because they love him very much. When reading this it made me think of the people who fight for our country. They are fighting for the people they love along with the country they love. They will fight for and defend the person next to them and do anything to get them back home safely. These people will take a bullet for the people next them or do anything they have too, to defend them. In these chapters this is exactly what Tom and Huck are doing. They are fighting to get Jim free again because of how much they love him. Tom took a bullet to the leg trying to set Jim free, but that was his goal and he was sticking to it.
One thing that I really liked was Tom and Huck's thinking to get Jim free. I really liked how they wrote the letters and made the pictures to freak out the family and get them thinking. I liked how the wrote these letters to the family to not even get them thinking that it could possibly be them trying to set Jim free. I also really like the risky part of all of this. These boys made a huge risk trying to save Jim. When all of the farmers showed up with guns to stop the crooks, i thought Huck and Tom would call their plan off. They made the risk and went for it and ended up making it. The only thing that went wrong was Tom getting shot in the leg, but he didn't care because his goal was to get Jim free and he achieved his goal.
