When I first heard I was reading this book it didn't seem to interest me. I started reading chapter by chapter and I just didn't want to stop. It is a great book so far and I cant wait to keep reading. From the first little bit that I read it left me with some questions. One of the couple questions I was left with was, why has Huck's father been away from him for so long and just now coming back to see him? I feel that his dad came back because he heard about all of the money that Huck found and gave to the judge. Another question that I wondered about was, why does Miss Watson want Huck to pray everyday? I think she does this because she wants him to become closer with god and have god accept him and lead him to do the right decisions.
This book made me really think how people were treated during this time period. I though people were treated poorly today, but the slaves during this time were treated very badly. They were called inappropriate names and the people used very offensive language and words toward them. They were very mistreated and with the language that is used toward the slaves in the book is why some school will not let their kids read it. Reading this book and what the slave went through is a take away on how rude others can be to different races.
Reading these first couple chapters really made me proud of how good of an author Mark Twain is. I really like how he expresses Toms imagination. It is crazy of the things that Tom comes up with and shares with the others around him. I also really like how Mark wrote this book. It is very well written and I like the time period it takes place in and the aspect of nature that plays a role in the story.
